The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Development Plan under the scheme of Thailand 4.0 applies an area-based development approach. It builds on the success of the Eastern Seaboard Development Programme, the continuous implementation of which spanned over 30 years.
Against this background, the High-Speed Rail Linking Three Airports Project under the EEC aims to develop infrastrucuture building on local industries utilizing high-level technologies in order to boost the economy and promote educational opportunities for the community moving forward.
The High-Speed Rail Linking Three Airports Project is one of the major projects aiming to elevate the country's development and further advance economic growth. The project is positioned to be the foundational framework for the development of the EEC Gateway, leading to greater convenience and speed of travel and transport between provinces in the EEC and also to other provinces and regions. It connects three airports in the Bangkok Metropolitan Area and the EEC, namely Don Mueang Airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport and U-Tapao Airport.
In addition, the development around the Makkasan Railway Station area to promote the high-speed rail service will result in a hub that connects the city of Bangkok to the EEC Gateway and other high-speed train stations including Sri Racha High-Speed Railway Station among other main cities and less visited areas.
We believe that the development of a transportation network should not only be for the purpose of travel, but it is also a way to connect the present to a sustainably developed future. We place great value on all stakeholders in every sector in order to enhance economic, social and environmental benefits. Another vital element that we cannot overlook is giving back to the people in the area by improving the quality of their lives through sustaining the local way of life, generation of income and employment opportunities, and sustainable management of natural resources and the environment.
Our implementation plan aims to enhance and promote the improved quality of life of the local people, fostering collaboration between the public, private and civil society sectors. This is in order to ensure that all are well prepared and adaptive to the changes occurring at present and in the future.
The concepts developed for the management of areas related to the high-speed rail project in the EEC are aimed towards the following goals:
To achieve these goals, modern technologies will be utilized in community development, including in the creation of employment opportunities, income generation, the use of digital technologies for entrepreneurship and the promotion of the community's technology use. Furthermore, we also emphasize the importance of effective communication so that the community can gain integrated knowledge and understanding along with us.
